Hello Tom Niemi! As the service manager, can you give us your best tips for the car holiday?
Absolutely! The most important thing to remember is of course to leave on time, but also to bring water in the car. I also recommend always carrying a liter of motor oil so you can top up if necessary during the trip.
I also think it's important to service your car before you set off to reduce the risk of having to find a repair shop along the way. If you know you're going to be driving a long distance, it might be a good idea to drop it off with us before you go so the service intervals are followed.
Then there are a few things that should be checked, you can either check it yourself or you hand it in to us and we will check it for you. The first thing is to check that all fluids are filled - that is, washer fluid, brake fluid, engine oil and coolant. Here I just want to remind you to only check the coolant when the engine is cold and turned off. Also check that all the lights are working properly and the condition of the tires. Check the tread depth of the tires and the air pressure. Pump up the spare tire if you have one in case something happens and bring a tire repair kit. I would also check the condition of the wiper blades and replace them if necessary.
Also check that the AC is cooling properly so you don't sweat unnecessarily. And have the number for assistance in your phone in case something should happen along the way. That's probably the most important thing to check, I would say. Then just drive, take it easy in traffic and take lots of ice cream breaks! 😊
