A fully electric 5-door hatchback with the familiar-sounding name Mazda 6e was presented on January 10th at the Brussels Motorshow, and sometime this summer we expect you to be able to test drive it with us at Niemi Bil in Norrbotten!
You are probably familiar with the very popular family car Mazda 6, which has been absent for a while. Now it is a comeback for the model with a completely new electric powertrain and a brand new design! Right now we don't have a lot of information to share, but here we have listed what we know. Of course, you will be able to test drive, buy and lease the new Mazda 6e at Niemi Bil in Luleå and Kiruna as soon as it is launched in Sweden!
Performance and range
The Mazda 6e comes with two powertrains, one with a so-called LFP battery (Lithium-iron-phosphate battery) that has received a lot of attention for its increased fire safety and ability to be charged to 100 percent without losing power or reducing its lifespan in the long term.
The battery is 68.8 kWh, giving you a range of up to 479 kilometers. You also get 200 kW DC charging, which can charge the battery from 10 % to 80 % in just 22 minutes! The electric motor in this configuration has a maximum power of 190 kW (258 horsepower).
The second powertrain that will be available from the start is the Long Range version, which has a more traditional 80 kWh lithium-ion battery (NMC) and a range of up to 552 km. The engine is then instead 180 kW strong (245 horsepower) and the top speed is limited to 175 km/h.
Both versions are rear-wheel drive and deliver 320 Nm of torque and do 0-100 in under 8 seconds.
Interior and cockpit
Front and rear seat passengers have generous legroom and the large panoramic roof creates a bright atmosphere. Exclusive material choices and the design of the seats, upholstery and stitching create a luxurious feel that is enhanced by indirect mood lighting, which can be adjusted to personal preference. The Mazda6e is available in two different equipment levels, Takumi and Takumi Plus, regardless of the choice of powertrain. The Takumi model is available in a beige or black leatherette interior, while the Takumi Plus offers an exclusive, brown Nappa leather upholstery and electric sunshade for the panoramic roof.
The smart cockpit has a customizable 14.6-inch touchscreen where the driver can choose which information to display. The car also has a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster in front of the steering wheel and a head-up display that projects a corresponding 50-inch image approximately 7.5 meters in front of the windshield with some Augmented Reality (AR) functionality. Advanced voice control and gesture controls simplify the use of, among other things, climate, navigation and media systems. The car is also equipped with a high-quality SonyPRO® sound system with 14 speakers.
Passenger safety
The Mazda6e has a total of nine airbags to protect passengers and advanced active safety features, including autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition and many other features to help the driver avoid potential dangers. The car also has a camera to ensure that small children are not accidentally left unattended in the car, which we are very excited to take a closer look at!
The Mazda 6e will of course come with the same warranty as all other Mazda models, i.e. 10 years (3 years factory warranty plus 7 years extended component warranty) and will be premiered in Sweden at eCarExpo in Stockholm on April 4. Hopefully we will know even more by then!
