No no, it's not dangerous. Summer is not over yet, take it easy. But sooner or later it will be autumn, and then I promise that it will not be as dangerous as it may feel now. Imagine; fresh air, vibrant colors and no mosquitoes! Perfect time to take a drive and check out our elongated country a little closer. Autumn is high time for excursions, and here are some ideas of where you can go!
Tip 1: The High Coast
Magnificent views even before you've even stopped the car! The High Coast offers magnificent nature, conveniently located along the E4 almost right in the middle of Sweden. Just imagine the picture below, but with autumn-red forests and clear, high air.
How should I drive?
Drive from Örnsköldsvik to Sundsvall (or vice versa if you are coming from the south) and stop at Skuleberget along the way. During the journey you will also pass over the famous Högakusten Bridge, fantastic views guaranteed!
Here you have directions on Google Maps!

Tip 2: Bohuslän coastal road
The west coast is unique, beautiful, and very accessible. A vast archipelago environment where the calm after a tourist-heavy summer has now settled, with relaxation and sea views on the menu. And seafood of course!
How should I drive?
Drive from Gothenburg to Strömstad, and don't forget to stop in Marstrand, Smögen and Fjällbacka along the way. This is definitely the place to stop for a lunch where the delicacies of the sea take center stage!
Follow our directions and you will find the right one!

Tip 3: Österlen
Will there even be autumn and winter in Österlen? It feels like it's always summer there. So it's a perfect time to extend the summer with a trip to beautiful and fertile Österlen!
How should I drive?
We start in Ystad, then we basically drive around the whole of Österlen via Brösarp, Kivik, Simrishamn, before we turn inland and drive through endless fields, and then end the tour with a visit to Ales Stenar.
Follow our directions through Österlen!

Tip 4: Laponia UNESCO excursion
Norrbotten is perhaps Sweden's most scenic county, and offers everything. Lakes, forests, rivers and mountains, and along the way you can experience Sami culture, sauna bathing and Norrbotten delicacies!
How should I drive?
Start in Jokkmokk or Gällivare and later make your way to either Kvikkjokk or Stora Sjöfallet (depending on which one you want to visit first). It's a real mammoth road trip, but oh so worth it! You'll experience two national parks: Stora Sjöfallet and Sarek, all from the comfort of your car!
You can find our mammoth road trip through the mountains here!

Tip 5: Jämtland Mountains
Åre and the surrounding area are not only a great destination in winter, even during the slightly warmer and more snow-free times of the year, the Jämtland Mountains are a fantastic destination. Bring your mountain bike or your hiking boots if you have them, because here you can experience the mountains very close up!
How should I drive?
Start in Östersund and drive towards Åre. If you want, you can take a scenic detour to Vålådalen Nature Reserve on the way there. Once in Åre, you can stop for lunch before continuing to Storlien and the Norwegian border.
See our directions to the Jämtland Mountains here!
